PIP-0009 some issues
« on: April 04, 2019, 11:41:25 PM »
Some issues with PIP 0009:

1. Changing hashing algorithm from double SHA256 to randomhash is unfair to new users/miners of pascal coin. Previous users/miners of pascalcoin had to spent less electricity of mining pascal coins. Assuming double sha256 has electricity wise cheaper to compute that randomhash.

2. Debugging/porting randomhash to different languages will take a lot more time and work and will make PascalCoin more expensive to implement on different platforms. Also for embedded machines this will make PascalCoin more expensive.

3. To resetting of the difficulty was very risky. During such an event a pre-compute attack becomes very possible and feasible. In future difficulty should be set high and not low/resetted to prevent such pre-compute attacks in case of another hard-fork based on hashing changes.

4. Basically PIP 0009 underestimates the willingness of people on this planet to implement complex solutions in exchange for producing money.
